VideoTriage is designed to produce thumbnails of selected movie files so that the movie doesn’t need to be watched. It’s based on the VLC libraries so any movie file type supported by VLC will work with VideoTriage.
Use EnCase to export out all the video files in your case, then run VideoTriage to play each video at up to 5x speed and to create thumbnails every n seconds (configurable). These thumbnails get placed into a new folder with the same name as the video. When the video is complete, it is moved into the thumbnail folder and the next movie is processed.
Let this run overnight and the following day, simply scan through the thumbnails to determine the content of the movie. I recently had a case with 860 very long movies which VT dealt with over several days. It took less than a day to work through the thumbnails and pick out the relevant material. I estimate it saved me about 9 days of manually watching the films.
